Big Event Readiness
Find your zone. Go with intention.
Why this routine?
A sequence for organizing your attention before a big moment. The aim is to feel ready enough to begin, without chasing more stimulation.
- 01
Start here
Check the dial
Notice how you feel: flat, ready, or overloaded. Choose gentle movement if you need energy, or a quieter environment if you need less input.
- 02
Protect your attention
Remove the noise
Switch on Do Not Disturb. Put away news, social media, and last-minute comparisons. Return to one familiar plan.
- 03
Before the event
Fuel the system
Choose familiar food that you have tolerated before. For sport, follow the fueling plan you have practiced in training.
- 04
Prepare early
Hydrate with purpose
Drink regularly in the lead-up. Follow your practiced hydration plan for sport rather than trying to catch up at the start.
- 05
Keep it familiar
Control stimulation
Avoid adding more caffeine if you already feel overstimulated. Choose one familiar song or cue, then stop scrolling.
- 06
If you feel overloaded
Regulate breathing
Sit or stand comfortably and breathe gently, without forcing it. Let the breath settle for a few minutes. Skip the downshift if you need to get moving instead.
- 07
Prepare for the task
Move + prime
For sport, use your practiced warm-up. For a pitch, take a short walk, loosen your shoulders, and rehearse the opening.
- 08
Picture the start
Rehearse the first minute
Choose three controllables: your opening action, one useful cue, and how you will respond to a mistake.
- 09
Your next action
Lock in + go
Choose one external target, take a comfortable breath, and begin. You do not need to feel perfect to take the first step.
